Noodles.ONLUS is a Non Lucrative Organization of Social Utility that pursues aims of health and social promotion in disadvantaged scenarios -especially in developing/emerging countries- in the field of food safety and wholesomeness, and nutrition.
With the strict cooperation of local communities and pivoting on environment-health as well as social-economic and cultural aspects of food, the Noodles.ONLUS focuses its activities on:
i) The prevention of health risks for the present generation and burden of poor health for generations to come.
In fact, potential effect of the combined and repeated exposure to toxicants (such as the endocrine disrupting chemicals in food and natural remedies) is generally long-term and not readily discernible, thus entraining also new aspects implicating susceptibility of intrauterine life, developing organisms, breastfeeding and, more in general, the transgenerational risks.
The risks from long-term exposures to toxicants are enhanced by some vulnerability factors, among which poor quality and/or unbalanced nutrition features prominently.
ii) Defence of typical food production chains and food self-sufficiency.
Special attention is given to residues and both natural and man-made contaminants in staple foods of animal origin and drinking water, in order to permit effective predictions of risk, support preventive interventions to protect human and animal health, both in general and in special circumstances, as well as to exploit the nutritional, social and cultural value of local resources.
Noodles supports the integration between food safety and security strategies.
